Essential oil was discovered in 1700BC and was used by the ancient beauty goddess, Cleopatra to attract her husbands for intimate moments. Egyptians used essential oil to preserve human body as more commonly known as mummy. These essential oils not only aromatic but it has healing, soothing, antiseptic and medicinal properties. Rose is one of flower that can be derived to become essential oil. In the 10th century, Avicenna, an Arabian who was incredibly passionate about rose and wrote more than 100 books about the benefits of the exquisite flower.

In the 20th century, Rene Maurice Gattefose who is a French chemist burned his hands in one of his experiments and plunged his hand into the closest liquid that he can find. The liquid that he plunged into happened to be lavender oil and it helps to soothe the burn, heal and recover it without any scars left behind. He then soon to be known as the Father of Aromatherapy as in 1926, he educate people about the power of Aromatherapy using essential oils. In 1937, he wrote the first aromatherapy book, Aromatherapie: Les Huiles Essemtielles Hormones Vegetales and was translated later into English and named the book Gattefosse’s Aromatherapy.

In 1974, Decleor was known as Cleor which means ‘the golden key that opens the temple of beauty’. Their star product, Aromessence Neroli was created in 1978 and this product remains until today as one of their best sellers. Ennobling themselves with the ‘De’ in 1986 and until today they are known as Decleor.

In this workshop, we will be experiencing the Aromatic rituals by Decleor step by step guided by Vernice and here I’ll show you which product that we went through and how it feels like.

Vanity Trove x Decleor - Decleor Eye Make-Up Remover

Decleor Eye Make-Up Remover

‘Bi-phase skincare with soothing and draining Cornflower Water and Camellia Oil that boosts the micro-circulation and makes it easier to remove resistant and waterproof make-up.’

The facial cotton that was provided has been soaked with water before I pour an amount of the eye remover on it. I was very reluctant to remove my eye make-up but Vernice was pushing it for us to truly experience the ritual. This eye make-up remover does remove gently but it didn’t remove my mascara completely because I could still see traces of mascara in the midst of the ritual especially during the cleansing.

Vanity Trove x Decleor - Decleor Essential Cleansing Milk

Decleor Essential Cleansing Milk

‘This light and silky emulsion with Neroli Essential Oil (used in Hydra Floral) promotes hydration. It softens and soothes thanks to Sweet Almond Oil. Its fresh and sparkling fragrance awakens the senses.’

To remove the face make-up, here we have used cleansing milk and massage it all around the face then wipe off. The texture is slightly thicker than emulsion. The cleansing milk doesn’t feel oily and easily massage onto the skin. After wiping it off, my skin doesn’t feel dry at all.

Vanity Trove x Decleor - Decleor Hydra-Radiance Smoothing and Cleansing Mousse

Decleor Hydra-Radiance Smoothing and Cleansing Mousse

A luscious and silky smooth foaming cream with Neroli Essential Oil that transforms on contact with water into a gentle cleansing foam containing lightly exfoliating Papaya Extract and enriched in Hyaluronic Acid to prevent the skin from drying out.”

This cleanser begins as a liquid base and once lathered up it foams up to be mousse based. I have been using mousse cleansers since last year and in my opinion, I think this cleanser doesn’t foam as much as most mousse cleansers does plus mousse cleanser are usually quite fluffy texture to it. Using this we had to massage it in circular motions to get rid off all residues of dirt, make-up, oil and more.

Vanity Trove x Decleor - Decleor Essential Toning Lotion

Decleor Essential Toning Lotion

‘This essential toning lotion with Neroli Essential Oil completes make-up removal, removes any traces of the milk and prevents the skin from drying out.’

After cleansing, toning our skin is essential to remove further leftover residues and also to balance our skin pH. An interesting fact that why we should have pH5.5 for our skin is that this level of acidity is suitable for our skin to kill the bacteria on our face. This toner is also alcohol-free which is safe to be used around the eye area without drying out that area.

Vanity Trove x Decleor - Decleor Ultra-Moisturising & Plumping Expert Mask

Decleor Ultra-Moisturising  & Plumping Expert Mask

‘Enhanced with Hyaluronic Acid, this mask is a real moisturising bath for even the most dehydrated skin. Based on the professional expertise of DECLÉOR Laboratories, this treatment brings together all its know-how:

1. Intense hydration thanks to powerful plant active ingredients:
– intensely moisturises the skin (Extract of Wild Pansy),
– helps to combat cutaneous dehydration (Samphire Extract),
– instantly “plumps up” and visibly smooths fine dehydration lines (Hyaluronic Acid of natural origin).
2. A unique texture: this cream mask transforms into a thin oil under the action of the massage, and it is absorbed into the skin to refresh it.
3. A targeted application technique based on the brand’s salon expertise: a combination of circular movements to revive the skin and help to boost the micro-circulation, leaving the skin stimulated and ready to receive the benefits of this expert mask.’

This was one of the most interesting mask I have ever used. It a cream based mask and let me story to you this interesting progress of using this mask. Apply and massage the mask all over the face until it becomes oil-based then leave it for 10 minutes. While waiting, it felt like the mask began to ‘melt’ and it literally drips from my face. The oil had liquefy even further as it work on its magic onto my skin. It gives me a slight tingling sensation and Vernice mentioned that it a positive effect that the mask is working its way to pump my skin with more moisture. Once we are done, we washed this off and I did felt a little tightness on my skin after removing it.

Vanity Trove x Decleor - Decleor Aromessence™ Néroli

Decleor Aromessence™ Néroli

‘This serum of Neroli, Sandalwood, Petitgrain, Sage, Parsley and Juniper Berry Essential Oils, with a fine and silky texture, is specially formulated for the care of skin exposed to daily stress.
A 100% pure and natural concentrate, it softens and helps to relax the skin, restores the complexion’s natural radiance and acts like a true effectiveness booster for your HYDRA-FLORAL ANTI-POLLUTION day cream.’

The star product of their skin care since 1978 and the bottle is designed to control the amount to dispense and to preserve the purity of it. Its a blend of a few different types of essential oil and made to become serum, just three drops of it and it is sufficient for the entire face. The scent has a hint of spiciness that tingles, somewhat like cinnamon but not as strong. Please do refer here on how to apply using this. I was quite worried that this could possibly be too oily for my skin, three drops does feel a little heavy on me.

Vanity Trove x Decleor - Decleor 24 Hours Moisture Activator Light Cream

Decleor 24 Hours Moisture Activator Light Cream

‘Inspired by the incredible powers of flowers, DECLÉOR Laboratories have combined moisture-boosting and multi-protection active ingredients in a light and fresh cream.
1. 24hr hydration
– helps to draw water by encouraging hyaluronic acid* synthesis to plump up the skin (Wild Pansy
– improves the circulation of water by increasing the synthesis of aquaporins*, real cell irrigation channels, for optimal hydration (Wild Pansy Extract),
– encourages water binding on the surface of the skin to prevent dehydration (Samphire Extract).
2. 24hr multi-protection
– protects against pollution* and free radicals* (Moringa Oleifera Microproteins and Sunflower
– prevents internal imbalances of the epidermis.’

Although this is a light formula, after massaging this moisturiser on to my face, it felt even heavier on my skin. Don’t get me wrong, it is moisturising but my skin would prefer something even lighter like gel-based moisturiser. It helped to relief my skin tightness that I experience after the mask.

Vanity Trove x Decleor - Decleor BB Cream 24 Hours Moisture

Decleor BB Cream 24 Hours Moisture

‘The DECLÉOR Laboratories have combined the effectiveness of a 24hr multi-protective moisturiser with the benefits of a foundation for a natural “flawless skin”. This light and ultra-fresh BB cream refines the skin with 5 benefits in 1:
1. Moisturises for 24hr (Wild Pansy and Samphire Extracts)
2. Illuminates and evens out the complexion (Mineral Pigments)
3. Refines the skin texture and corrects blemishes (Grapefruit Essential Oil)
4. Protects against UVA/UVB rays (SPF 15)
5. Protects against urban pollution (Moringa Oleifera Microproteins).’

I am very picky when it comes to BB creams.  This BB cream by Decleor is fairly new and they only have one shade of yellow undertone. The texture doesn’t feel too heavy but it still feel heavy on me since the layering from the few steps before. This gives a natural coverage because after I have applied it, it doesn’t seem like I have BB cream on my face at all. Best thing about it is that it doesn’t leave greyish cast but its missing in providing the glow and radiance to the skin.

Before this aromatic ritual,Vernice measured my skin moisture level and it was at 20 and after the ritual, she measured it again and it turns out to be 25.5. The minimum moisture count is 25 for an adult skin and if you want to achieve that baby skin it has to go to 50. It’s a great moisture improvement however it was unfavorable when it becomes heavy on my skin and with my combination skin, I would prefer to have my skin staying matte and non-greasy at all times.
