It Has Been A Year & Where Have I Been?

Hey everyone,

It has been a long time that I have not updated any post. Time flies quickly and eventually a year has passed. As much as I wanted to catch the momentum of blogging, I was juggling time with family matters, work and personal time. My apologies for being away for such a long time, allow me share in a nutshell what had kept me occupied.

May 10, 2015 – Dad Was Hit By Stroke

Traclyn - Dad Stroke

Something that I have least expected to happen and I was out of state, just arrived a day to be precised. My brothers told me it wasn’t necessary to return asap as dad was stable. I could never forget how painful, helpless nor hopeless it felt especially when he was admitted to ICU. Up until today, I could still cry remembering this.

Traclyn - Dad Rehab

My dad is a lot more better now and the attack has affected his mobility, speech and selective memory. He is eating well and trying very much to recover himself though there are times, it was tough for him because rehab process can be very tiring and painful. I have never given up on him and I believe he will walk again as how he used to be, time and effort will tell. Upon all this, eventually family matters grew along from all angles and it was really challenging to juggle in between. I was draining out.

Career @ Sephora

Yes, I have started working in Sephora Malaysia two years ago and being part of the Human Resource team can be quite challenging. I was required to travel between states and overlooking for all the stores in Malaysia for retail hiring. Challenges made me learned so much from different perspective and I was also personally invited by my colleague to share my personal interest to the team.

Traclyn - Sephora University

I was invited to share about how to blog to the team. How do you think my blogging interest relates to them? It is how I garner information and deliver it to the blog. For the retail team, they garner information and deliver it to customers. Big thanks to my colleague for giving me the opportunity though I have yet to much active in my blog.

Our New Home & Moving In

Jowie and Traclyn Home

We have gotten the keys on October 10 and most of the renovation was manually done by us and his family from painting, repairing and refurbishing selective furniture. It took us about 6 months working only on our weekends, that’s the only free time we have to get things done. I have moved in since May 2016 and recently, just had a house warming between friends and family.

March 30, 2016 – Registration of Marriage

Traclyn and Jowie Marriage Registration

Oh yes, I’m married! This date is also our anniversary date and it marks our 13th years together. Both of our parents were brought together to witness our registration of marriage. Jowie has been very supportive from the day one I knew him and guess what? He is the one who encouraged me to post this update because he knows what I love to do the most.

I’m much more settled down as compared to before, perhaps I will start writing again. Maybe to start off with one post a week? Keeping my fingers crossed, I’ll try to do more if I could. There are times I would update in Facebook and Instagram, do catch up with me from there!

A Night To Remember 11.12.13

I understand some of you might have been wondering what happened exactly on the 11.12.13. Please bear with me as it was a night to remember.

It was a bright Wednesday where Selangor had their holidays.  I worked in Kuala Lumpur and I didn’t get the chance to get off from work. Jowie, the love of my life came to have lunch with me. I didn’t know he would because I wanted him to catch a good rest after his long restless working days. It was a surprise lunch. We are supposed to meet for dinner and didn’t know where we should be going. I went to search for some new places to visit somewhere near KLCC, somewhere I have promised to dine with him for a long time.

A Night To Remember - Christmas

Arrived at KLCC mall and was looking forward for Christmas decorations. It was crowded where people are busy taking photos with their camera. We participated and tried so hard to capture the best selfie of ourselves. With the thoughts that I should bring him to the dinner place, he said he wanted to cool down and we walked around the mall first. Unknowingly, he walked me to somewhere that I have least expected. One of the most luxurious restaurants in town, Marini’s on 57. It is literally on the 57th floor, a place you can dine and drink with magnificent 360° view of Kuala Lumpur. I never know about this and I only had my mobile to take some shots, please excuse the quality.

Marini on 57 - Violet Paradiso & Mojito

We headed to the bar with the hope to be able to witness sunset and started with very nice cocktails of the “Espresso Marte-ny” and “Mojito”. Sadly, it was a cloudy day and we didn’t get to see the sunset. The taste of the “Mojito”, we felt the rum was too strong that it was overpowering the rest of the flavors.  The “Espresso Marte-ny” was smooth especially with the froth, so fine that it blends well with the entire drink. Mojito is priced at MYR35 and The Espresso Marte-ny is priced at MYR42.

Marini's on 57 - Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab with Avocado Mayonnaise

To kick off our appetite, we went with Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab with Avocado Mayonnaise. The soft shell crab itself is delicious, crunchy and fresh, topped with rocket makes the flavor slightly tangy. The avocado mayonaise is creamy and they blend very well with the soft shell crab.  This dish is priced at MYR35.

Marini on 57 - Drinks

We ordered more drinks. Asahi beer, the blue shot glass was complimentary as of lady’s night. The drink was nice, I’m not sure what is it called but it ends with a little sweetness on it. The other two drinks, I wasn’t sure whats the name. The orange colored cocktail was a southern drink with berry taste but the vodka was overpowering, however the green one has some green tea flavor to it.

Marini on 57 - Sausage Platter

Aside from that, we ordered the Sausage platter. Three different types of sausage was served. Smoked Chicken Cheese Krainer, Thüringer Bratwurst and Chicken Krakauer served with Mustard. They are one of those worthwhile sausages to have. This dish is priced at MYR32.

Marini on 57 - Beef

Next we ordered the Angus Steak. Probably the best steak I ever had. Disbelief that this angus beef is prepared so well that it melts in your mouth, the flavours rich and I can’t even tell it was beef. This dish is priced at MYR95 for a full slab.

Marini's on 57 - Always

Here comes the bouquet of roses. I am starting to suspect something is going to happen. The expensive dinner and the roses. I have asked him about the roses, he said it was a service by them and I doubted it.

Marini on 57

We took advantage of snapping photos, Marini’s on 57 is just next to Petronas Twin Tower. The view was magnificent.

A Night To Remember - Marini's on 57

Here’s to us with the bouquet of roses that is so fine and marked this date of 11.12.13 as our most memorable moments together.

Marini's on 57 - Drinks 2

This drink was on their special menu and had water melons in it. Forgot the name again. It was much better than the previous ones we had and the taste was just nice with a nice hint of liquor. At this moment, I have finally figured that the froth is actually egg white. This is priced at MYR37.

A Night To Remember - Roses

We were having the drink while waiting to be seated at the restaurant. I couldn’t help looking at how beautiful the roses are.

A Night To Remember - Marini's on 57 - Scenery 2

Finally, to have the chance to be at the restaurant after quite a bit of wait. The restaurant scenery view overlooks the KL Tower, the other side of Kuala Lumpur.

A Night To Remember - Marini's on 57 - Scenery

A city that never sleeps, a night to remember for us and shall not forget this very moment.

Marini's on 57 - Earl Grey

Earl Grey tea was ordered as a tummy calmer before the dessert comes. Interesting double wall glass where the heat from the tea doesn’t disperse as quickly.

The dessert was to die for, Fondente Con Gelato All A Vaniglia is 70 % Pure Valrhona Melted Chocolate, Vanilla Gelato and berries.  The only I would describe this dessert is SEXY, the chocolate was rich but not overly sweet.  This is a must try, priced at MYR42.

A Night To Remember Marini's On 57 - Congratulations

The final dish was given a bit too quick I think, with a variety of praline selections. Why too quick? See the congratulations written there ? This silly boy hasn’t even popped the question yet !

This is the moment that I have been waiting for the longest time. I saw it coming the moment we changed our path to the restaurant and I was very nervous.

Yes, he did pop the question. With a diamond ring in his hand, he asked me the one question that I’ve been waiting to hear for such a long time.

I was lost for words for a while. Collecting my thoughts, thinking where are we headed in the future. Where am I today and how will we fare as a forever loving couple. I told him this will have to wait. There are a few accomplishments to gather under myself before I can say yes. Yes, I told him this isn’t the right time yet and he would have to work harder to get me again 😛

To our dear family and friends, we appreciate all the good wishes and congratulations. I was never expecting the overwhelming responses. Though the proposal didn’t work, he insisted me to keep the ring. This is not the end of us as we will treasure our relationship even further. I will still love him with all my heart and no one else in the world but only him.

Yours sincerely.

How Have You Been For CNY?

This Chinese New Year is very much eventful because with the people whom I celebrate with. I know this is totally ain’t beauty related but I just wanted to share these beautiful moments. All of these photos, I have shared it in my Instagram and do follow me if you haven’t! Let’s begin with the eve of CNY where my mum needed some kam quat (learn more about kam quat, here) as the offering for the prayers and it was to the very last minute where its so difficult to find only the fruit itself, my brother was frustrated and he bought a whole tree of it.

Traclyn Yeoh & Hayley Yeoh

Introducing you my new girl friend! It’s my niece, Hayley Yeoh. Such a precious little girl with that chubby cheeks that I want to pinch all day! She is just more than a month old and dressy for the first day of CNY!

Visiting BF’s grandma’s house and kick off with firecrackers. The kids were enjoying so much and don’t worry, their parents were watching them.

Wishing Lantern

My first encounter of wishing lantern where most Chinese lights it up on any festive season. To watch it floats up sky high, I wish I could bring my dreams come true to soar bravely high like the lantern. Its not just a mere watch but its full with hopes and priceless. I have yet to light up one of my own but no worries, I will always have the chance.

Devonshire Cream Tea Set

My first scones of the year! This was at Smoke House in Cameron Highland and we have ordered Devonshire Cream Tea set where it comes with 2 scones, cream, jam and a pot of tea. Each set is meant for 2 pax. We have another spot for breakfast and we were sharing 2 sets within 6 of us but the staff disallowed us to ask more tea cups. Sounds stingy and ridiculous? Yes, but I guess they are discouraging sharing like what we do, so that people needs to order more.

Colorful Flowers at Sam Poh Temple

Sam Poh Temple is one of the temple located in Cameron Highlands too. They are always filled with beautiful and colorful fresh flowers every time I visit it. Those colors make me feel happy! We had our vegetarian lunch in the temple and helped around to clean the dishes.

Boh Tea Factory & Plantation

Boh tea plantation is something you cannot miss in Cameron Highlands. It was 6km of winding roads up to the hill from the main road. We were so worried that we might have taken the wrong path but its worth the  time. The scent of tea is smells so nice (especially if you’re a tea lover) and we did a light climbing about 15 up hill to one of the peak. The scenery was beautiful.

Happy Valentine's Day

Not to forget to forget to wish all of you, Happy Valentine’s Day. It doesn’t matter if you’re celebrating with your BF, husband, friends or family, everyone deserves some love on that day. This could be one of our cheesiest photo together, but we show no fear because we are so happy together.

Valentine's Day - Strawberry Bell

I told my BF I didn’t want any roses especially bundles because its just going to be a waste of money. We’ve been together really long and I just wish that we could spend time together. He quietly went to the night market and got me this cute mobile charm strawberry bell. Its really rare and although its just a tiny piece, it shows that he remembered and how much sincerity he has given to me.

Strawberry Cheesecake & Earl Grey at Cameron Valley

Whenever you visit a tea plantation, you’ll definitely not miss the tea house where they serves their tea and some dessert. This is the one from Cameron Valley and I have ordered earl grey tea with strawberry cheese cake. The tea is just lovely but the cake isn’t. What a spoil!

Bee Farm

This is also my first time visiting a bee farm and we weren’t allow to go on our own at the widespread farm but we manage to have a look of it by the shop. The cluster of bees seems so fluffy and cute but of course, you don’t want them to sting you. There’s a fact that I learned about honey very long ago and this is the time to share it. Do you know the darker the honey the better it is? Because they are more rich in anti-oxidant and healing properties.

Traclyn Yeoh & Amber Liew

This is my BF’s cousin on our last day in Cameron Highlands. We slept in late (at 4:00am) for some fun card games. You can tell from my sleepy face.

Waterfall at Lata Iskandar

On our way down, we will never miss the waterfall at Lata Iskandar.  The water is cold and fresh, one of attractions before Cameron Highlands. If you’re a heavy mobile user, I suggest you not stopping here because there’s no reception here at all. I tried Instagram-ing this photo on the spot. 😛

Western Food

Just last night, had a Western dinner with my BF’s family before the Jade Emporer’s Birthday prayers. The price is a little more cheaper than the average but you pay for what you get. I have ordered Butter Chicken Chop and my dish arrived very quickly. The chicken was pre-cooked because the dish isn’t that warm either. This was at Taman Desa Petaling.

So how’s your CNY or Valentine’s? How did you spend your days last week?

I Wished To Be An Artist…

I remember when I was 7, we were always asked who do we want to be when we grow up. I wasn’t ambitious I just wanted to be a drawing artist but my mum numerously reminded me that I should study hard and as far as I could. I didn’t want to crush the hopes that my mum put on me and I changed to be an university graduate when I was 9.

I came home from Australia in 2008 as an university graduate. How did I landed myself to love makeup? That’s going to be a long story but of course, I did slip into my mum’s drawer to try her makeup when I was young and I didn’t like it at that time.

Makeup is another inspiring art to enhance ones’ feature. Everyone deserves to be beautiful no matter who they are. Recently, I did some makeup for few usherettes of a wedding. I just love to see how amazed my clients are when I finished their makeup. Its such a joyful feeling that is almost unexplainable.

See how lovely they are? Sultry smokey eyes with rosy shade peeking through their cheeks and sweet loving smile. Their theme was black, silver and white.

I did the makeup for seven usherettes in four and a half hours. Studying each individual’s facial features is really interesting and to know what works best for them. It was a tiring day for me (been having sore shoulders the next day) but it’s worth it.

Who did you want to be when you’re little? Did it come true?
