Review: Intriguing Lips With Revlon Super Lustrous Shine Lipstick in Plum Velour

It took me quite a while to decide on testing out the Revlon Super Lustrous Shine Lipstick since it was launched in October last year. Due to the shade itself, I hardly wear plum shade lipsticks. When I tried this lipstick, my BF thought it was over the top but I find it intriguing, edgy and sexy.

Revlon Super Lustrous in Plum Velour

‘Exclusive LiquiSilk™ formula with mega-moisturizers seals in color and softness. Silky-smooth, creamy texture. Stay true color wears evenly. Contains Abyssinian oil which helps to deliver shiny and radiant color.’ – Revlon

There are 8 shades available to Revlon Super Lustrous Shine range. What this range differ from the previous range is, this gives sheer finish. I love the Super Lustrous Creme as I was an avid user to the shade Pink In The Afternoon.

Revlon Super Lustrous in Plum Velour - Swatch

The shade that I have here is Plum Velour which is plum shade with red undertone. If you find it confusing to identify this range with the previous, they can be differentiate with the word ‘Shine’ and ‘Creme’ at the bottom of the lipstick where the label is.

Revlon Super Lustrous in Plum Velour - Application

Gliding the lipstick on my lips was easy as it goes on smoothly. I do have dry lips and this lipstick kept my lip hydrated when I have them on. Even so, the shade doesn’t show well on the chapped area of my lips. I have layered approximately 3 layers to get this color pay-off and the shade is buildable.

Revlon Super Lustrous in Plum Velour - Before & After

On before, I look slightly pale with neutral look. After applying the lipstick, the look changed very much to intriguing, edgy, Gothic, sexy, elegant or sophisticated, you name it. It is light weight because it felt like I had lip balm on my lips.

Revlon Super Lustrous in Plum Velour - Lasting Power

I have tried to put a lasting test and I wasn’t expecting much as it doesn’t claim to have any staying power especially knowing that this is sheer finish. The lipstick just stays on very well at first until I had a meal. Right after the meal, what was left on my lips seems like I had lip liner on. It also does transfer, got to be careful if you kiss anybody.

Revlon Super Lustrous in Plum Velour - Ingredients

I have checked through the ingredients listing that this lipstick is alcohol and paraben free which is definitely a plus point. Also, I do notice it contains  soluble collagen and hyaluronic acid.

Although it’s sheer, I like that it’s being light weight, hydrating and glides on lips smoothly. My BF might not be fond of this shade but I could always use this shade when I’m out with the girls. If you’re scent sensitive, this maybe for you because it doesn’t have any fragrance too. If only it is transfer-proof, it would be perfect meanwhile reapplying is needed for this lipstick. It isn’t a bad thing, just take it as a practice of applying lipstick.

  1. Great review! I love this shade as well. I had no idea it was alcohol and paraben free, which makes me want to pick the rest up as well! Revlon has definitely knocked this out of the park!

    • Yay! Finally someone who agrees with me on this shade! Thank you! It even felt addictive to keep applying this lipstick. 😛 Which shade are you planning to pick?

  2. It looks moisturising. Hehe, a reason for me to get new lipstick but definitely not this shade. I cant pull it off
