Poppin’ That Hot Summer 2013 Lips

Earlier I mentioned about how tie dye nails would be the hot nails for this summer 2013. Remember to check those nails out because it was so easy to achieve, you just need the patience to wait for it to dry. This time we are looking on those hot lips to rock on this season and the colour can be huge throughout the year. Spotted a few stunning lip colors from numerous runway.

Orange Lips

Orange shade lip color is no strange color since early this year and this is the shade that is being pretty huge of the year. This was during Moschino Spring Summer 2013 and it gives a beautiful pop of color to the entire look.

Nude Pink Lips

Don’t worry if you cannot put yourself to those bright lips, nude pink lips simply gives you that innocent and healthy lips. Remember its nude pink, not nude. The difference is that nude pink has that pink finish whilst nude is just a shade that is very close to your skin color.

Dual Tone Lips

If you dare to be different, dual tone lips is another hot lips trend for this summer. This was spotted in Holly Fulton Spring Summer 2013 combining totally two playful colors for the lips. It stands out so much  even if you have neutral makeup.

Matte Lips

Matte finish lips has gotten in trend since a year or two in Malaysia and this goes great especially if you have naturally thick lips. Even if you don’t have thick lips, just lip liner, highlight and contouring will help to get that pucker lips. Just remember that matte formulas can be drying if you have dry lips.

Which would be your summer lips pick?

Review: Strawberry Banana Lip Balm, Weird?

‘Lip Smacker products blend fun and fashion with natural protection for lips. It uses only natural oils such as castor oil, wheat germ oil, sesame seed oil, beewax, and candelilla wax. High in vitamins, minerals and other beneficial properties, they are natural moisturisers and lubricants that keep your lips super-smooth, supple and gorgeously healthy.’ – Lip Smacker

Lip Smacker Paul Frank in Julius’ Strawberry Banana sounded like a delicious smoothie. Its a lip balm in twist stick of 4grams and made in USA. The life span of the lip balm is for 24 months upon opening it, impressive!

It looks like many other ordinary lip balms and its pink.

Here is the before and after of my lips with the lip balm. On the after, my lips is more glossy.

This is the ingredients listing, pardon me that I could get the tag off at the top left because if I do, I’ll rip off the card packaging and most probably the ingredients listing cannot be seen.

Experience?

When I first opened the cap, the strawberry scent was slapping through my nose. The strawberry scent is creamy like strawberry ice cream and strong enough that I didn’t get any whiff of banana scent. On the first glance, I thought this might turned out feeling oily on my lips since the texture seems incredibly thick and waxy.

Verdict?

I love the strawberry scent but it could be overwhelming if you’re not into scented lip balms (Lover didn’t like it :( ). Slapping on this lip balm on my dry lips gives a great relief. I thought it could be oily but it feels light and moisturized. I always love lip balms in sticks because they are hygienic and travel friendly. The moisture lock could last up to 4-6 hours and because the balm is pink, it gives a translucent pink color on my lips which made my lips look healthier.

How much and where to buy?

Lip Smacker are available at Guardian, Watsons, Parkson and  Sa Sa with retail price ranging from MYR9.90 – MYR26.90. Price could differ from retailers due to current promotion, offer or discounts.

PROs:

  • Non-oily
  • Moisture effect up to 4-6 hours
  • Making my lips look healthy
  • Delicious scent
  • Affordable
  • Hygienic and travel friendly

CONs:

  • Strawberry scent could be overwhelming for scent-sensitive people

My rating:4.8/5
