Review: Revlon Parfumerie Scented Nail Enamel, Let The Fragrance Lingers Around You

Smell something nice but it isn’t perfume? Go around with your painted nails and have the fragrance to linger around you. Introducing the new nail polishes of Revlon Parfumerie where it leaves your nails with fragrance finishing.

Revlon Parfumerie Scented Nail Enamel

‘Revlon Parfumerie™ offers 24 delectable scented colors in a variety of finishes from creams to glitters. The collection is divided into 3 fragrance and color families: Fruits & Florals for exotic and fruity fragrance notes in vibrant, punchy shades; Sweets & Spices for woody, spicy fragrance notes in deep, rich shades and Freshes for crisp, clean scents in light and airy shades. This unique collection includes a sophisticated range of colors from Revlon, the color authority. The new bottles are worthy of display on the chicest vanity, and the shades are a mix of classic and on-trend colors.

Revlon Parfumerie™ uses fragrance and essential oils so you are given a scent that is reminiscent of your daily perfume. Fragrance is meant to be an accessory, and with Revlon Parfumerie™ Scented Nail Enamel you can change your nail color and scent as often as your mood to express your individuality!’

I thought the bottle look very cute where it looks like the classic old school perfume bottles with rounded knob as the handle. I believe they might have adopted the concept and they are possibly related due to fragrance but these nail polishes bottles are mini sizes.

Revlon Parfumerie Scented Nail Enamel 2

24 of the shades is categorized in 3 fragrance category.

Fruits & Florals

  • African Tea Rose, Apricot Nectar, China Flower, Ginger Melon, Lime Basil, Orange Blossom, Pink Pineapple, Wild Violets

Sweets & Spices

  • Autumn Spice, Balsam Fir, Bordeaux, Chocolate Truffle, Espresso, Italian Leather, Moonlit Woods, Spun Sugar

Freshes

  • Beachy, Fresh Linen, Lavender Soap, Powder Puff, Sunlit Grass, Surf Spray, Tropical Rain, Wintermint

I have 3 different shades with me, one from each category which is China Flower, Autumn Spice and Surf Spray.

Revlon Parfumerie Scented Nail Enamel Brush

The brush looks just like many other nail polishes and the fragrance doesn’t come immediately during the application. While applying the nail polish, it smells just exactly like other nail polishes. Initially, I thought that it should smell like a fragrance from the bottle itself and I took a heavy whiff then I choke. Silly me!

Revlon Parfumerie Scented Nail Enamel China Flower

China Flower is categorized under Fruits and Floral. It is a bright red shade with orange undertone, this is a solid color with shine finish. Although it is meant to be fruit and floral fragrance, I find it on a heavy musky scent that lasted me for at least 4 days but of course, the scent fades slowly as the day goes on. I find the scent is too masculine for me.

Revlon Parfumerie Scented Nail Enamel Surf Spray

Surf Spray is under the Freshes category and it did have a hint of refreshing scent.  Just like how it is named, Surf Spray is a bright ocean blue shade with shimmer finish. This scent didn’t last very well on me and I will share about it why it didn’t later in this post. I had to apply two layers to achieve this finish.

Revlon Parfumerie Scented Nail Enamel Autumn Spice

Autumn Spice falls under the category of Sweet and Spices and it has a light musky scent but I wasn’t able to catch any sweet scent from it. Autumn usually relates to the drying falling leaves where it turns orange or brown hence this brown shade finishes off with pink shimmers.

Above all…

I liked how intense and long lasting scent when I started on China Flower but I didn’t like the strong musky scent. I was hoping to get better scent from the rest but it isn’t as strong as the first. One of the reason could be the top coat where it may suppress the scent. Therefore the scent wasn’t able to ‘linger’ around further, does that make sense?

Initially, I didn’t want to use top coat but I had to since it wears off quickly just by a day and you could see it for Autumn Spice. It could easily transfer, for example I accidentally swipe my nails over the papers and I could see traces of color on the paper. Therefore, I had no choice but to apply top coat to make it last longer and it definitely made a difference.

I liked the colors but the fragrance just didn’t hit me because I’m the type of person who would go with any scent but musky. I’m more attracted to the colors than the scent. It is very hard to determine the scent, especially when you are new to this nail polishes because the fragrance only settles when the nail polishes dries on your nail bed. Most importantly is to pick the shade that you like. It is very new in-store and it should be available this month.

How To Clean Nail Polishes Off The Edges

Having nail polish on is part of our fashion accessories and we all have been there to apply nail polish on our own. When you apply it, the nail polish shade and design is perfect but just need to clean up on the edges where you might be accidentally touched on of your skin area.  Using cotton buds can be one option to clean on large smudges but when it comes closer to the nails, it could probably clean off your nail design.

Putting on Nail Polish… Urgh! I always mess it up

Do we all faced the same dilemma when it comes to painting our nails? It takes practice to get the other hand to have fine painted nails, even I have the same problem but sometimes it can be because of the nail polish consistency, room temperature or the brush. I’m always skeptical on how we could get that clean perfect nails as though we got our nails done at the salon.

I always thought to get that clean painted nails will be difficult. I seek such advice from Winnie of The Average Shopaholic over our lunch together a few weeks ago and trust me,  she has better knowledge of nail polishes than I do and I love all her nail designs! Her tips on this is by using a synthetic angled brush, dip into the nail polish remover and its done!

Alright, that’s super easy! Why didn’t that come across my mind? I believe you can also use other type of brushes depending on your preference on which suits you best. I do have a bunch of nail brushes but they have gone missing for months and I think I might have accidentally threw them away.

Another tips that was shared by a friend is to apply Vaseline petroleum jelly around the nails to avoid painting over the skin. On the other side, the petroleum jelly helps to moisturize your cuticles at the same time. She also shared on how to avoid bubbled nails is to store the nail polish into the fridge for at least 5 minutes before use. I suppose your fridge could possibly be your nail polish storage too!

China Glaze Summer Fling 2013, Introducing Hologlam & Avant Garden Collection

Last week, China Glaze launched two new collection with the theme Summer Fling 2013 bringing to you fresh, vibrant and glamorous nail polish shades. Thanks to Fiona of Street-Love.net that I was able to participate the launch along with a few bloggers to know further about the collection.

China Glaze Summer Fling 2

China Glaze has been highly raved especially in the US for its quality and opacity. To go along with summer vibe, most of us were dressed in bright and floral fashion.

China Glaze Summer Fling - Hologram

China Glaze Hologlam

For this collection, there are 12 shades to choose from and these aren’t my nails but I have included it just so you get the right picture of how the shades might turn out on the nails.

Here’s a show of how the nail polishes could turn out on your nails and they are mostly pastel shades. You cannot go wrong with it for any Spring.

China Glaze Summer Fling - Seche Collage

Along with this, they also carry Seche Vite and I love Seche Vite for it’s top coat!  They have just released limited edition new Seche Collage where it has different types of glitter shapes in it.  You can apply it on specific areas or the entire nail. This is retailing at MYR 45.00.

China Glaze Summer Fling - Matte Magic

Also another new product introduced by China Glaze is their Matte Magic Flat Finish Top Coat. It transform any type of nail polish into matte finish and I can’t remember exactly how much they are but I’m pretty sure that they are below MYR 50.00.

China Glaze Summer Fling - Bloggers

Each of us gets a chance to try these nail polish and yes, a manicure session of your choice of colors and combination. While some of us were miggling around, Agnes from China Glaze Malaysia shared with us China Glaze App where you can download it for free to your iPhones or iPad (coming soon for Androids). This app helps you to search for the right China Glaze nail polish of what fashion you’re wearing.

China Glaze Summer Fling - Keep Calm, Paint On & Winter Holy

I chose a mint green as its now my favourite colour. The mint green shade is called Keep Calm, Paint On from Avant Garden Collection and my ring finger was purely glitters with Winter Holly from their Christmas Collection. Also, top it off with China Glaze Matte Magic but I thought this design was too simple and added Seche Collage to bling my nails up. I posted up my final nail design in my Instagram, here. Let me know what you think.

China Glaze Summer Fling - Bloggers 2

Korean Nail Polishes Banned

My colleague just shared with me this news of Korean nail polishes banned yesterday, it was published in our local Chinese newspaper. I looked up for the news and found some articles by Healthexchange.com.sg and Cdeclips.com. It was rather interesting and later I noticed that this happened in 2010 according to the published dates of the articles. Call me outdated but seriously, I never know about it until yesterday. One of the brands mentioned was The Skin Food and I hardly purchase from them. Most of the time I purchase my nail polishes from The Face Shop. I’m glad to find out about this, what about you?

Are you aware about the ban?
