Review: Spare Me With 1000 Smooches!

‘1000 Kisses Lip Tint gives your lips a royal flush of intense, vibrant colour that stays on duty and ready for action for hours – leaving no trace, so your kisses never tell.
The speedy two-step application delivers a fabulously flawless finish that is totally on trend and just begs to be kissed. A precision pen-tip delivers the mistake-free colour you’re looking for and a caring balm seals the deal, giving lips the extra moisturising they’ve been waiting for.
There are 6 must-have shades in a translucent colour-matched design that gives you the freedom of being able to re-invent your look every day.’ – Rimmel London

I have been wanting to try lip tint so much especially Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain (which hasn’t arrive yet and I wish they will). Rimmel London Lasting Finish 1000 Kisses Lip Tint  looks very similar and I thought I might as well just give this a try. Its like a marker-sized pen where you apply the color on clean lips first, followed by the balm to add moisture and shine.

I have mine in the shade Perpetual Plum. This marker-sized lipstain is dual ended where one gives color to your lips and another is the balm. The one that gives color does look like a marker tip which be able to give precise application and the balm on the other end is blunt and translucent.

This is how it looks like on my lips. I separated it into 3 images where you could see the difference of the lip tint pigment as well as after adding the balm. This shade has blue undertone to it.

Experience?

When lip tint arrived on my hand, its hard to resist not to open it. I was pretty excited, open immediately and tried it. One thing that I least expected is the scent of the lip tint. Man, it smells like cough syrup or concentrated raspberry. That is such a turn off and the scent is pretty strong to my liking. The marker-like felt tip feels gentle on my lips and I love the tip for precise application. I didn’t notice the balm, my bad for not reading the instruction first and my lips were dry wearing the lip stain along. Finally when I discovered the balm (it took me 10 minutes), it was a relief for my lips. The color is buildable and the balm was very moisturizing but it does felt a little heavy.

I did a transfer-proof test where I kiss on the back of my hand on freshly applied lips and only a tinge bit of color came off. However, this is not waterproof and doesn’t really stain my lips at a very minimal color. Once I have a couple of sips of my water, 50% of the color came off and what’s left are on my lip edges. Also, the lid for the balm always get in the way making me poking into the balm always.

Verdict?

I want to love this but the scent is a no-no to me and I wish it has better staying power than just transfer-proof, otherwise it makes no difference than using a lipstick that promises transfer-proof. The balm does make my lips shine and moisturized but its just a little heavy to my liking as though I just had an oily fried chicken. When I applied only with the lip tint, it doesn’t feel like I applied anything.

Rimmel London Sexy Curves Full Figure provides loads of promising features to give volumptious lashes. This comes in a fancy fiery red shiny tube of 8ml and be able to last for 12 months upon opening it. Its made in England and the shade that I have is Black.

The bristles has three rounded shape to it which is known as Triple Plump Brush and the mascara has oat scent to it if you smell it closely. Otherwise, it isn’t too overwhelming.

Here’s the experiment on using the mascara.

  • Before: My naked lashes
  • Curled: Just curled it with my Shu Uemura Lash Curler
  • One Coat: Single coat of my upper and lower lashes.
  • Two Coats: Double the coating on my upper and lower lashes.

Experience?

Its weird to have the Triple Plump brush because I was worried if the mascara doesn’t coat evenly to all the lashes. The texture is very creamy that it tend to smudge easily while applying on lower lashes.

Verdict?

As you can see, it did a pretty good job because it did help to lift my lashes making it look curvier and thicker. This mascara is buildable and it doesn’t clump. The application can be uneven on the lashes with the Triple Plump brush but I fixed it by using the tip of the brush. The backlash of this mascara that it smudges during the lower lashes application which you can see one I applied with one and two coats, my under-eye  looks darker than before because I tried cleaning it. Also, its not as voluminous as promised, its probably just greater in 2-3 times. Once I used it without using a curler and I’m impressed. It did an amazing job to lift my lashes as though I did use a curler and it stays that day until I remove the mascara. This is a non-waterproof formula hence its easy to remove, I just remove it by using baby wipes.

How much and where to buy?

They are available at major drug stores and departmental stores retailing at MYR29.90. Price might differ due to current promotion, offer or discount.

PROs:

  • Great lifting power even without lash curler
  • Voluminize up to 2-3 times
  • Easy removal

CONs:

  • Uneven application
  • Smudges during application
  • 7 times voluminous effect does not apply

My rating:4.5/5

Review: Lashes From Day 2 Night Mascara

“Glam’Eyes Day-2-Night, our first mascara that creates two dramatically different lash looks with just one brush. The secret is the magic double cap! During the day, choose the Length Cap for ultra-long, gorgeously defined lashes – perfect for those flirtatious” – Rimmel London UK

The size of the actual Rimmel London GlamEyes Day 2 Night Mascara reminds me of a whiteboard marker pen because of the thickness of the mascara tube. We don’t usually get such big tube mascaras. I have tried the earlier version of Glam’Eyes mascara and it was disappointing  because most of the time, it just helps to redefine the lashes and doesn’t give any dramatic effect at all. Of course with high hopes, I wish this could make a difference. This comes in a combination of giving length and volume for your lashes.

I like how this tube has iridescent effect as the design, just like how blurred night city lights. I love the vision of it. Here is also a show of the wand and they are actually comes in a single wand only and I will reveal why is it so later on. You can tell for the lengthening, there isn’t so much product in between the bristles while the volumizing has more product in it.

Here is the reveal of why there is only one wand of mascara involved. Just as it claims, it comes in double magic cap. For the length wand, it is thinner and it slides through the tube of the volume. Did you notice there is a gunk of product at the end of the volume tube? What the volume tube does is to minimize the amount of product for the length wand, sort of like scraping it off from the bristles. When the the length wand is inserted to the volume tube, it acts as another purpose of mascara which you have more product within the bristles. I would also say the volume tube acts as a filter for the length wand. Let’s see how it works on me.

There are a few stages to look upon where there is before application, curled lashes, length application and volume application. If you look carefully on the image, you can definitely tell how different my lashes look like in each stage. As recommended, length is suitable during the day as it does helps in redefining lashes and it doesn’t look clumpy and I think it may contain fiber because at times I do see tiny fiber-like on my lashes.

Verdict?

As a mascara-holic, I love this mascara for the result and lasting effect. I would also say the length is more for natural look and volumizing creates dramatic lashes. You can definitely tell from my last image of different stages of application, otherwise you could compare the visibility of my top and bottom lashes. This mascara also helps to lift the lashes and last me for more than 8 hours without smudging. I don’t remember seeing that it is waterproof from the tube. We all know how makeup melts easily with the humidity in Malaysia. There is a backlash to this mascara which is the volume wand. Since the bristles picks up more product, I tend to get messed up during the application a.k.a accidentally having the product on my eyelid or lower lash line. It is easy to remove with makeup remover for length but had to work more for volume as the build-up is greater. This mascara definitely changed my perception on Glam’Eyes range.

Review: Give Me That WOW Lashes!

Description:

OVERSIZED VOLUME BUILDING BRUSH EASILY CREATES SOFT TO DRAMATIC LOOKS

Extra WOW Lash mascara, the new volume and lash building mascara with a 50% larger brush for WOW volume. The supersized brush makes it easy to build soft to dramatic look with visible progressive volume up to 12X.Lash building formula for highly defined lashes. No clumping.” – Rimmel London US

This is how it looks like in actual where it has British flag designed on the background with capital “WOW” to create greater impact of the designation. The shade is Extreme Black and comes in 8ml. The life span of the product is 12 months upon opening and opthalmologically tested where it is suitable for sensitive eyes.

The wand is narrow at the tip and fatter by the end. It doesn’t look like how it is from the web image and it seems to be smaller, not as bigger as it claims. Also, it somehow looked like fiber mascaras.

To begin with I DID NOT curl my lashes as I wanted to show you how great are they to lift my lashes without weighing it down.

One Coat

First coats always helps to redefine my lashes making it more visible and to compare before applying this mascara, you can see how it lifted my lashes so well without the help from lash curlers.

Double Coat

It just help to thicken up a little more and no more than that. It doesn’t provide any WOW effect. What’s good is it doesn’t clump and easily removed with makeup remover.

Verdict?

I would recommend this for those who like to have natural looking lashes because this mascara gives a little definition with great lifting power. I have high expectation on this after using Extra Super Lash Mascara but this is disappointing especially when it doesn’t give the WOW effect as promised. It is not waterproof hence it tend to smudge after long hours of wearing it. I used this for two weeks now and only recently I developed rashes on my right eye after removing the mascara. I wasn’t sure if it’s the mascara, eye liner or makeup remover. I certainly did not have any bad reactions to it earlier. Maybe its just me.
