My brows is always a dilemma, they are sparse, unruly and not in a proper shape. I have been thinking of doing brow embroidery for the past few months and finally decided to get it just recently at Empro Cosmetics in Mid Valley.
This is a show of my naked brows, they do not have strong shape to frame my eyes and you could see my left brow, it looked all so wonky. I came to a conclusion to do brow embroidery because of how my brow looks and chose Empro because I was their customer ages ago and I trust their work art. Brow embroidery unlike tattoos, they look more natural and could last up to 2-3 years depending on individuals. Also, I chose Mid Valley outlet because it is highly recommended by many customers.
This is how I draw my brows, thick in height and horizontally flat to shorten my oblong face feature. My sister in law went together on 25 January 2015 with appointment at 5pm. I have been consulted where I should be doing Bonbrow which means they would embroidery the tint of color with result like drawn brows which is known as eBrow and lines that look like hair strands known as Ero. My brows was done by May, Senior Face Artist who I highly recommend and I will share with you the reason for it later in this post. I love the outcome right after, it looks so natural as though I drew it myself. When I got back to work on Monday, no one notices until I tell them about it.
Consultants will first share which type of service is more suitable and select the right category of artist who comes with different years of experience in doing such work art. After selecting, the artist will be drawing the brow shape desired until the customer fully satisfied and trim the brows accordingly. Once everything has been confirmed, the artist will bring to a special area of adjustable seats are at to proceed the embroidery. I did try to snap a photo when I have my embroidery done but May told me nicely I was not allowed to, therefore I stopped.
If you have not known, embroidery uses special blade to embed the dye onto the skin. Each blade used is new from sterilized pack and not to be shared with anyone. The dye comes with different shade and mine is Natural Brown.
The first question you would ask, “Wait…there’s blade? Does it bleed a lot?”. Yes it will bleed depending on your skin type as sensitive skin type are more prone to bleed. This needs to be shared with the artist for them to understand and to put their skills in the right manner.
“It’s a blade then how do they embroidery it onto the skin?” Different work art requires different technique to embed the dye in. As for me, I did Bonbrows, a combination of eBrow and Ero. For eBrow, the feeling is like having the blade to hook into the skin and for Ero, I could feel the blade cuts in short strokes. Definitely this technique is not to severely to injure anyone.
“The bleeding must have hurt so bad!”. This will depend on your pain endurance and if you know that you are not able to bare pain, you could share it with the artist. They will help you to apply a layer of cream which I believe maybe numbing cream. I did not go with the cream at all.
They do provide a recovery cream for me to apply every night for my skin to properly recover. This is how my brow looked like on the 4th day where my skin naturally peels and it is normal to undergo this stage as our skin renews. At this moment, it is not advisable to peel the scabs by yourself and do allow them to fall off on their own. After another 2 days, the peeling is all done for me.
This is after a week from the embroidery where it is not as thick or dark as how it looks like from the start. Frankly speaking, this is too natural for my liking and I would prefer to have brows just like how it looks after the embroidery. I would also prefer to have much more straighter brows.
Here is a comparison of before and after, definitely it shows a beautiful difference. I do require more and this is not a complete brows yet as I am entitled with a complimentary one time touch up after a month. I will be visiting them again this month. I will definitely update, how it turns out for the touch up. With this ‘new’ brows I save tons of time for my makeup and I’m less worried on my brows disappearing act.
We arrived five minutes before our appointment at 5pm and was consulted by the Face Artist. My sister in law proceeded with eBrow by May, Senior Face Artist. As for me, I was consulted half way by the Face Artist and she went to another customer who wanted to do Bonbrow. I seek for help from another consultant and she suggested me to do Bonbrow. Consultants are unable to provide embroidery service yet. Due to budget constraint, I wanted to go with Face Artist to do Bonbrow for me and she is occupied with a customer, therefore I waited. She is the only Face Artist in the outlet.
While waiting, there isn’t enough waiting seats, nobody asked if I would need any help or advice how long I should be waiting nor offering any drinks. I waited until 7pm in the outlet with several times of changing seats and glances with Empro staff and other customers until the Face Artist as well as my sister in law done with their embroidery. The Face Artist noticed my presence the whole duration I was there and never ask a word to follow up from me. May, the Senior Face Artist was surprised that I have not proceed any service yet and told the Face Artist that I am taking her service. They were speaking in Mandarin where my sister in law overheard, the Face Artist replied to May by saying “It’s already 7pm.” I believe it’s time for her to end her shift.
May offered her service, however, I shared my concern on my budget and her fees exceeds it. At the point of time, all services has 15% discount off. She made a quiet move by offering me 30% discount whereby her service of Bonbrow is MYR 880 and after discount would be MYR616, the best price she could offer to me. This price is approximately MYR50 more expensive from the Face Artist discounted fee. I hesitated at first but after a few thoughts, I accepted to take up her service since I have already waited for 2 hours with unwillingness of the Face Artist to help me and I believe May was very sincere to help me. Therefore, I highly recommend May as she is friendly, patient and helpful. I do not have her photo for now, maybe I’ll grab a photo with her during my next visit for touch up.

Empro’s International Marketing Manager contacted me via Facebook a day after this post was uploaded. He apologized for the incident happened where he will personally look into this matter. Also, this post has been shared to the owner and he offered a set of products to be sent to me.
